Lun-Kadar is a remote outpost located along the overland corridor between Tharn Gate and Varn-Telai. Positioned at the northern boundary of the Fractured Wedge, it functions as a recovery and staging site for patrol units, convoy crews, and engineering teams monitoring terrain shifts. Though not a full settlement, Lun-Kadar maintains a consistent garrison and relay capacity.

Geography

The station is situated on a flat stone shelf shielded partially by a natural ridge wall. The surrounding area is uneven and cracked, with wind exposure and visible fracture lines marking the southern ground. Facilities are low-built, reinforced, and anchored to underlying bedrock for structural stability.

History

Established following the eastern pass wall’s completion at Tharn-Gate, Lun-Kadar was developed to provide a midpoint waypoint for patrols. As overland traffic increased, the site was expanded with relay systems and observation tools to support route maintenance and safety tracking.

Functions and Features

  • Patrol Bunkers – Basic stone-lined shelters used by rotation teams for short-term rest.
  • Field Relay – A signal platform linking to Tharn-Gate and Tor-Kelai.
  • Storage Vaults – Contain dry rations, tool kits, and emergency response supplies.
  • Elevated Marker – Weather-resistant post equipped with environmental sensors and geologic trackers.

Defenses and Watch

Although not designed for direct defense, the outpost includes line-of-sight barriers and limited elevation points for monitoring. A continuous watch is maintained by stationed Stonewardens, and the structures are reinforced to serve as shelter during environmental instability.

Threats and Dangers

Hazards include high wind exposure, unstable ground near southern slopes, and visual disorientation during low visibility. Ground fissures may open or shift with little warning, requiring frequent re-mapping. Lun-Kadar remains part of the broader perimeter maintained by Mar-Thal but has reported no hostile contact.
