Introduction

Lake Donal is a large lake in the interior of Ivaiê, in the Western Lowlands of Balúrail. It covers 249 mi² (645 km²) and is the source of the Gal River. No settlement stands on its shores; the nearest is the small town of Ivesiz, about 10 miles (16 km) away.

Ecology

The lake's shores are rocky and wooded, with stands of Balúrail Pine and Balúrail Spruce, and small wooded islands are scattered across its open water. Like the rest of the Western Lowlands it has long, cold winters, and the lake freezes over in the coldest part of the year.

Historical Significance

The country around Lake Donal was Mifajene land before the arrival of the Tuzquão. It passed to the League of Balúrail in the First Mifajene War, c. 320–342 ME, when the League took the southern and coastal lowlands, including most of Ivaiê. Tuzquão settlement nearby remained light; Ivesiz was founded in 510 ME.

Settlements

There are no settlements on the shores of Lake Donal. The nearest is Ivesiz, a small town about 10 miles (16 km) from the lake.
