Introduction

Equincu is a state in the League of Balúrail.

Etymology

Named after the Tuzquão explorer Lezério Equincu who founded the city of Equincu.

History

Equincu is the second newest state in the League.

Geography

Equincu is a marshy region located in northwest Balúrail. The majority of Equincu is composed of the Guinquile Swamp and the Dorrear Swamp. Three large lakes, Lake Lebolur, Lake Arco and the largest, Lake Dorrear dot the landscape. The Dorrear River flows through the land. The population is centered on a narrow strip of fertile and relatively dry land (it still gets flooded frequently) between the two great swamps, known as the Moro Strip, and along the coasts of Lake Dorrear and the Minop River.

Climate

Like all of the Western Lowlands, Equincu has a temperate climate with cold winters and hot summers. Equincu has the most rainfall in the League of Balúrail and has some of the highest in all of Dalel.

Flora and Fauna

Winter ferns and pine trees are the main flora in Equincu. Within the swamps numerous medicinal herbs and berries can be found, some with valuable properties.

Economy

Equincu's economy centers around the numerous bounties found in the nearby swamplands. Additional industries include logging, tourism and general trade. Pilgrims to the House of Tahami often depart from the port city of Equincu.

Demographics

Equincu is the least populated state in the League. The vast majority of the population is located in and around the city of Equincu. The rest of the state is inhabited by smaller villages. Most of Equincu is uninhabited.

Transportation

Transportation in Equincu is limited. There are no major roadways and the roads that do exist often get flooded or washed out. The city of Equincu has a deepwater port and allows for access to the rest of Balúrail and beyond.
