Introduction

The Path of Pavkanai is the branch of Osia dedicated to the study and manipulation of creativity, dreams and imagination through the spirits of imagination. Its practitioners are known as disciples of the Path of Pavkanai. It was the first path that humans practiced.

History

The Path of Pavkanai was open to humans from their time on Haberria, where Pavkanai had placed them, and it was the first path they practiced. After the Great Migration, the Ascendant Spirits taught humans other paths.

Principles

The Path of Pavkanai is the study of inspiration. Because imagination cannot be seen, its disciples train themselves to perceive the spirits of imagination, to understand them, and to work with them, following the three principles of Attunement.

Role in Society

Most disciples of the Path of Pavkanai are artists and musicians.

Spiritual Hierarchy

  • Nascent Spirits are spirits of passing thoughts and fleeting dreams. They are the first spirits a disciple learns to perceive.
  • Mature Spirits are spirits of lasting ideas, recurring dreams and an artist's long-held vision.
  • Ancestral Spirits are spirits of inspirations shared by many people, the collective imagination of a group.

Training and Attunement

The Path of Pavkanai has no schools or orders, and its disciples hold no formal ranks. Its practitioners are often self-taught and follow their own instincts and inspiration. Common methods include:

  • Lucid dreaming – Becoming aware within a dream and directing it.
  • Dreamwalking – Entering Homhuen, the realm of imagination, where thoughts take form and visions can be studied. Some who enter do not return.
  • Symbolic creation – Using symbols, paintings, or music to attune the mind to creativity.
  • Lucid perception – Training oneself to see patterns, hidden meanings, and unrealized connections in the waking world.

Mastery is rare. The most accomplished disciples of the Path of Pavkanai are said to be those who do not impose their will on imagination but lose themselves within it.

Limits and dangers

The Path of Pavkanai carries particular dangers. Imagination has no limit, and the mind can be harmed by it. Many followers of the Path of Pavkanai experience:

  • Over-immersion. Some become so absorbed in ideas that they can no longer tell dreams from reality.
  • Dream-obsession. Those who often enter Homhuen sometimes come to prefer it to the waking world and lose their connection to ordinary life.
  • Paralysis of possibility. The range of what could be made can overwhelm the mind and leave some unable to create or act.

Some disciples of the Path of Pavkanai are reported to have disappeared entirely, lost in thought and not in the material world.

Bibliography

  • The Dreamer's Path – A philosophical treatise on the nature of imagination and its influence on reality.
  • The Art of the Path of Pavkanai – A collection of artistic works inspired by the study of the Path of Pavkanai.
  • Between Thought and Creation – An exploration of the link between dreams, creativity, and the material world.
