The history of Orethil is a chronicle of stability, transformation, and adaptation, spanning from the dawn of existence to the modern age. As the first physical realm in Adaris, Orethil has played a foundational role in shaping the continent of Elemara and influencing the surrounding realms.
The history of Dalel extends from the formation of the realm by Yairan to the present day. Its earliest period predates the emergence of time and is undated. Later periods are dated in years before the Modern Era (BME) and of the Modern Era (ME). Year 0 marks the first landings of humans on the shores of Dalel during the Great Migration. The present year is 895 ME.

Orethil today endures as a realm defined by continuity and resilience. Its landscapes—mountains, valleys, and underground cities—bear the imprint of aeons of transformation. While the Duranthi maintain ancestral customs rooted in spiritual attunement with stone, the Minthari continue to expand and explore the depths of the subterranean world. The realm stands as a testament to endurance in the face of elemental change.

Era of Isolation Undated

Age of Ascendance c. 55,000–0 BME

Era of Isolation (undated)

Yairan, the Primordial Spirit of Earth, formed Dalel from Ákyar, the chaotic energy of Napadéh. Dalel was the first tangible realm. It was an unbroken and unbounded expanse of featureless stone, and Yairan was its only inhabitant. Light and darkness existed, but water, air, and fire had not entered the realm. Time did not yet exist, and the period has no dates or measurable length.

Great Erosion (c. 63,000–55,000 BME)

Aahi, the Primordial Spirit of Water, had no realm of its own and forced its way into Dalel. Yavi and Metihi, the spirits of air and fire, followed. Water cut rivers, lakes, and seas into the stone, wind wore down its surface, and fire broke through from below. Dalel was reduced from an unbounded realm to separate landmasses surrounded by sea.

Yairan created the Namuril to defend the realm. The Namuril built refuges and passages beneath the surface, including the first of the Deep Roads. Konmai, the Primordial Spirit of time, emerged during the conflict, and the history of Dalel is dated from this period.

The Great Erosion was ended by the Enarei, who were created by Umalyu. Yairan had lost almost all of Dalel. He withdrew with the Namuril to the Domain of Yairan and raised the Așdilu Mountains around it.

Age of Ascendance (c. 55,000–0 BME)

After the Great Erosion, Ascendant Spirits settled in the regions of Dalel and shaped their terrain, plants, and animals. The non-human native peoples of Dalel arose during this period and founded its first civilizations. Humans, created by Pavkanai, lived on the island of Haberria.

Great Migration (0 – c. 60 ME)

About 150,000 humans left Haberria in three armadas, which landed in Gosterra, Hevaran, and Hilisare. Their first landings mark year 0.

Modern Era (0 ME – present)

From the three landing sites humans spread into most regions of Dalel. Each group developed into a distinct people under the influence of the spirits of the region where it settled.
