The Great Migration (0 – c. 60 ME) was the movement of the Yendea, the first humans, from the island of Haberria to the continents of Dalel. About 150,000 people left Haberria. Their first landings mark year 0 of the Modern Era, and the migration is considered to have ended by about 60 ME. It followed the Age of Ascendance.
Background
Humans were created by Pavkanai in Gueroeq and placed on Haberria, where they lived throughout the Age of Ascendance. They had no settlements elsewhere in Dalel before the Great Migration.
Cause
The cause of the Great Migration is not known with certainty. Haberria is presumed to have sunk, and the migration is generally attributed to a calamity on the island. The nature of that calamity is unknown.
Voyages

The migrants sailed in three armadas of about 150 ships each. Each armada carried about 50,000 people and went to a different continent. Accounts differ on whether the armadas left Haberria together or over a period of years.
| Landing | Continent |
|---|---|
| Gosterra | Méniail |
| Hevaran | Rohashe |
| Hilisare | Luraskor |
Settlement
From the three landing sites humans spread into the neighbouring regions over the following centuries. The later human peoples descend from these settlers and did not come directly from Haberria. On Méniail, settlers from Gosterra reached Orinilure in 150 ME and became the Oinien. The Tuzquão reached Balúrail in 201 ME, the Arânzeni reached Khamria in 300 ME, and the Berturracioi reached Arezilur in about 400 ME.
The settlers of each region changed under the influence of its Ascendant Spirits and became the distinct human races of the present day.
First contact
The regions of Dalel were already inhabited by non-human native peoples. First contact took different forms. In some regions it was peaceful and in others it was violent.
Population
The human population of Dalel is estimated as follows.
| Year (ME) | Population estimate |
|---|---|
| c. 60 | 170,000 |
| 100 | 240,000 |
| 200 | 520,000 |
| 300 | 1,100,000 |
| 400 | 2,100,000 |
| 500 | 3,600,000 |
| 600 | 6,200,000 |
| 700 | 9,800,000 |
| 800 | 15,500,000 |
| 895 | 25,000,000 |
Fate of Haberria and the Yendea
Haberria is presumed to have sunk, and the Yendea are generally thought to be extinct. Some believe that the island still exists and that Yendea still live there, and explorers continue to search for it.
