Ascendant Spirit
Ascendant spirits are a category of spiritual entities within the cosmology of Adaris, representing the concepts, forces, and elements that arose from the interactions and dreams of the Primordial spirits. Unlike the Primordial spirits, who emerged from the Primordial Void, Ascendant spirits are born from the merging of elements and the creative thoughts of the primordial entities, shaping and defining the world more distinctly.
Origin and Nature
Ascendant spirits came into existence through the interactions of the Primordial Spirits, emerging not directly from the void, but from the merging of elements and the dreams of awareness. As the primordial spirits—beings like Daathir and Awenlas—contemplated, envisioned, and shaped reality, new phenomena arose. These phenomena solidified into entities: the ascendant spirits.
There are two primary categories of ascendant origin:
- Some ascendant spirits arise from the tangible convergence of elemental forces. These include spirits such as Arenam (sand and glass) or Tahrnath (magma)—each representing physical phenomena or environments shaped by combined elemental domains.
- Others emerge from the intangible interplay of awareness, emotion, and metaphysical structure. Soravet (knowledge), and Varunel (history of memory) are born from the inner qualities of of the primordial spirits.
Together, these Ascendant spirits represent the second layer of Adaran cosmology. They bring detail, complexity, and nuance to the world of Adaris—bridging the gap between fundamental existence and lived experience.
Manifestation and Presence
As the realms of Adaris stabilized, many Ascendant spirits moved outward into them, inhabiting specific domains. Their presence is generative, influencing environments, shaping terrain, and altering flora, fauna, and ambient spiritual conditions. In places where a spirit resides, ecosystems may shift to reflect its domain, and local cultures often evolve in alignment with its influence.
Some Ascendant spirits are bound to specific physical phenomena—deserts, reefs, frost plains—while others are tied to abstract principles like knowledge, sorrow, or memory.
