== Origin and Evolution == Ancestral Spirits are usually the culmination of centuries, or even millennia, of belief and reverence. A Mature Spirit may start as the mere concept of a local river or a mountain, but as the river or mountain endure and stories regarding it spread through culture, religion, or folklore, it gains more power and autonomy. Once a spirit is entrenched in the collective consciousness, it transcends its previous form and evolves into an Ancestral Spirit. The transition from Mature to Ancestral Spirit is marked by the spirit gaining immense power, autonomy, and self-awareness. Ancestral Spirits become capable of shaping reality on a grand scale, creating realms of their own, or even acting as protectors, adversaries, or deities within Adaris.
