History of Terasil

The history of Terasil is a chronicle of stability, transformation, and adaptation, spanning from the dawn of existence to the modern age. As the first physical realm in Adaris, Terasil has played a foundational role in shaping the continent of Elemara and influencing the surrounding realms.

Primordial Beginnings (c. BME 95,000- ∞)

Terasil was the first tangible realm to emerge from the Primordial Void, formed by Oras, the Primordial Spirit of Earth, from the chaotic essence of Astram. In its initial state, Terasil existed as an infinite expanse of solid stone—featureless, unmoving, and untouched by the other elemental forces. It stood in contrast to the realms that followed, embodying permanence, structure, and endurance.

The Era of Isolation (c. BME 80,000-95,000)

Before the arrival of the other primordial elements—Tejas, Jala, and Shasae—Terasil existed in a state of absolute geological stability. The landscape was marked by plateaus, stone fields, and cliffs shaped only by the interplay of light and shadow. During this period, the first sentient beings of the realm, the Orasians, began to emerge from the living stone.

The Birth of the Orasians (c. BME 80,000)

The Orasians emerged from the conscious substance of Terasil itself—fragments of Oras’s awareness coalescing into sentient form. Initially vast in scale, many early Orasians were mountain-sized, communicating through vibrations that resonated through the rock. Their culture was defined by stability and patience, mirroring the geological rhythms of their homeland.

The Great Awakening (c. BME 60,0000)

As erosion and external elements gradually altered the realm, the Orasians diminished in scale. Some of the eldest Orasians are said to remain deep within the Citadel Mountains, preserved in their original, colossal forms.

The Legacy of the Orasians

The Orasians became stewards of the land, shaping its terrain. Their traditions of stonecraft and meditative communion with the earth—remain central to their identity and spiritual practice.

The Great Erosion (c. BME 63,000-55,000)

With the advent of fire, water, and air, Terasil underwent a profound transformation. Rivers carved gorges, winds reshaped cliffs, and volcanic forces fractured the once-continuous stone. Known as the Great Erosion, this epoch marked the transition from an infinite landmass to the more bounded geography of Orethil. The Citadel Mountains became a protective core, preserving the heart of ancient Terasil.

The Rise of Elemental Integration (c. BME 55000-50,000)

Over successive generations, the inhabitants of Terasil adapted to the presence of other elements, integrating them into its landscape. Regions such as the Emerald Valley transformed into verdant lands representing the realm’s gradual diversification. New ecosystems emerged, but the underlying earthbound identity of Terasil remained intact.

== The Great Migration == (c. BME 50,000-20,000) Trueborn humans migrating from their ancestral home of Awenelir, moved throughout the newly formed Orethil. In Terasil humans formed two distinct races over time. The keepers of Memory, the Stoneborn Duranthi and the followers of Greed and Desire, the Minthari.

The Age of Deep Roads (c. BME 20,000-0)

As surface erosion intensified, subterranean life expanded. The [[Minthari] forged extensive tunnel networks. The development of the Deep Roads facilitated trade and cultural exchange between the Minthari and Orasians, creating a shared domain beneath the shifting surface.

Modern Terasil (0 ME-Present)

Terasil today endures as a realm defined by continuity and resilience. Its landscapes—mountains, valleys, and underground cities—bear the imprint of aeons of transformation. While the Duranthi maintain ancestral customs rooted in spiritual attunement with stone, the Minthari continue to expand and explore the depths of the subterranean world. The realm stands as a testament to endurance in the face of elemental change.
