Varnazul is an ancestral spirit revered among the Orasians as the eternal custodian of remembered names. It embodies the belief that identity is not lost to time if it is committed to stone. More than a spirit of memory, Varnazul is the living echo of all that has been spoken and etched with purpose.

Domain and Manifestation

Varnazul is said to dwell in the quietest depths of the Citadel Mountains, where the first Orasians carved the names of their kin into cavern walls. The spirit does not speak but is known through a palpable stillness—a pause in thought, a resonant silence when names are spoken with sincerity. Carvings made with full intention are believed to draw its attention.

Cultural Significance

Among the Orasians, Varnazul is invoked during rites of passage, ancestral remembrance, and legal decrees. Stone inscriptions made in Varnazul’s name are never erased. Recitation of deep names—those tied to lineage, legacy, and unbroken oaths—is seen as a sacred act. Orasian elders believe that Varnazul binds these memories to the land itself.

Legends and Accounts

It is said that during the Era of Isolation, the first Orasian council invoked Varnazul to preserve the memory of fallen kin whose forms had returned to soil. Their names, carved into the Hall of Echoes, are still read aloud in annual rites. Minthari tunnellers have also reported moments of inexplicable stillness when encountering ancient inscriptions deep within unmarked chambers, interpreted as Varnazul’s unseen presence.
