Sora River is a slow-moving freshwater river that originates in the western Murazkar Range and flows eastward across the Telenkar Fold, eventually emptying into Lake Sora in the central Sanctuary Vale. The river serves as the primary surface water source for the region and plays a key role in supporting settlement, agriculture, and wildlife across the otherwise arid savannah terrain.

Source and Drainage

The river begins in the high mist zones of the Murazkar Range, where runoff from convergence rains and underground flow emerges into a high plateau stream. From there, it cuts across the length of the Telenkar Fold, forming shallow banks, occasional braided channels, and temporary flood basins during the wet season. It bisects the Fold from east to west, creating a natural corridor for fauna migration and soil fertility in the surrounding terrain.

On the western boundary of the Fold, just before the terrain rises to meet Vale's Edge, the river descends over a large escarpment, forming a wide and powerful waterfall known as the Kelath Falls. This feature marks the transition between highland wilderness and the more stable landforms of the central Vale.

The Sora River terminates in Lake Sora, where its flow slows into wide, sediment-heavy shallows. Its presence supports nearby settlements such as Alun-Tar and Sora-Tar.
