Introduction
Berturraci is the language of the Berturracioi, the nomadic people of the Arezilur Desert. It is known as a flowing, poetic language.
Etymology
The language takes its name from the Berturracioi, whose name comes from Barimbertutterraci, "desert people".
History
Berturraci descends from Gostaldi. The Berturracioi brought it from Gosterra when they arrived by sea around 400 ME, landing at what is now Gristilia, and it spread with them into the desert.
Distribution
Berturraci is spoken by the Berturracioi throughout Arezilur. Several names in the region are Berturraci, among them Gristilia (from Gristillisco, "crystal bay"), Beilisia ("glass fields") and Bugluria ("border lands").
Phonology
Berturraci words are often long and end in a vowel. Doubled consonants such as tt and ll are common, as in Barimbertutterraci and Gristillisco.
