The name "Altea Range" is derived from its teardrop (horseshoe) shape, believed by the Sidami to be formed by the tears of Oras, weeping over the fate of the earth. Ancient myths suggest that the valley within the range was a sacred gift, a place where the land could heal and flourish.

Climate
The Altea Range exhibits two distinct climates:
- High Elevations: Arid and cold, with strong winds and little vegetation.
- Altea: Mild and fertile, with temperate seasons and steady rainfall, creating the only viable farmland in Terasil.
