History of Khamria
The history of Khamria extends from the Great Erosion to the present day (895 ME). The region was shaped by the Namuril and the Ascendant Spirits Yala and Kúsi before the arrival of humans, who reached it in 300 ME and became the Arânzeni.

Great Erosion (c. 63,000–55,000 BME)
The land that became Khamria was part of the original expanse of Dalel. During the Great Erosion the Namuril built refuges and passages beneath it, which later became the Deep Roads, and settlements in the Baviare Vale.
At the end of the Great Erosion, Yairan withdrew to the Domain of Yairan and raised the Așdilu Mountains around it. The Namuril sealed the Gates of Origin and left the Vale. Their structures remained.
Age of Ascendance (c. 55,000–0 BME)
The Ascendant Spirits Yala and Kúsi settled in the valleys beside the Domain of Yairan. Kúsi shaped the physical character of the land, and Yala shaped its intangible character. Kúsi created the Mundari, who settled in the high mountains around the Barerte Waste.
Arrival of the Arânzeni (300 ME)
The first humans in Khamria were descendants of the settlers who landed in Gosterra during the Great Migration. In 300 ME they crossed the Bogh Mountains into the Barerte Waste, and from there entered the Baviare Vale. They found the Namuril settlements of the Vale abandoned.
In 302 ME they founded Lavierin on the site of a Namuril settlement beside the Gates of Origin. It was the first permanent human settlement in Khamria.
Under the influence of Yala and Kúsi the settlers became the Arânzeni, a distinct people who live somewhat longer than other humans.
Mundari
The Mundari are organized politically as the Order of Servants. They hold that humans are a blight on the earth. They are in conflict with the Arânzeni and fiercely defend their territory, which covers most of the Barerte Waste.
Tribal period (300–450 ME)
For about 150 years the Arânzeni lived as loose tribal bands in the Barerte Waste and the Baviare Vale. Lavierin was the only city. Its governing body, the Council of Lavierin, was founded in 340 ME. In 389 ME a force of Mundari crossed into the Vale and attacked the approaches to Lavierin, and was turned back.
Arânzeni Confederation (450 ME)
In 450 ME a number of the bands united to form the Arânzeni Confederation, a union of city-states under the authority of the Council of Lavierin. The tribes of the Barerte Waste refused to join and kept their traditional way of life. Their descendants still live in the north and south of the Waste, which the Confederation claims but does not control.
Deep Roads
The Oinien of Orinilure began to extend the Namuril passages in 150 ME. After the Arânzeni settled the Baviare Vale, Oinien tunnels were extended to their settlements and linked the cities of the Vale to one another and to Orinilure. The Lav-Gar Deep Road reached Lavierin in 372 ME, and the Lav-Lep Deep Road opened in 431 ME. Many Oinien settled in Arânzeni cities. The period of expansion, known as the Age of Deep Roads, ended in about 500 ME.
Lainer Station, founded by the Arânzeni as a mining town, became the largest waystation on the Lav-Lep Deep Road. It was destroyed by an unexplained tunnel collapse in 781 ME and remains sealed.
Growth of the cities
The other cities of the Confederation developed after Lavierin. Lepigisţil began as a quarry and guard outpost, Ipierbani as a military command post, and Yacinsa as a community of scholars.
