Introduction
Tuzquês is the language of the Tuzquão and the main language of the League of Balúrail.
Etymology
Tuzquês is derived from Tuzquão, the name of the people who speak it.
History
The first settlers of Balúrail sailed down the coast from the Kingdom of Bóinbile in Gosterra and founded Saindo in 201 ME. They spoke the language of the Kingdom, Gostaldi. Over the following centuries their speech developed into Tuzquês, which spread across the Western Lowlands as the League grew.
Distribution
Tuzquês is spoken throughout the League of Balúrail. Most place names in Balúrail are Tuzquês, such as Arrêr ("fish town"), Urdim ("blue") and Lake Arrerem ("rose").
Phonology
Tuzquês has no k or h; the sound k is written c or qu, as in Tuzquês itself. Words end in a vowel or in l, r, s, z or m. The circumflex and the tilde mark vowel qualities, as in Têr, Ivaiê and Tuzquão, and an acute accent marks stress, as in Balúrail and Arremíria. Ch appears only at the start of a word.
