SignificanceThe Realm of Darkness

Introduction

Woncu is the realm of darkness, the realm of Náiluv, the Primordial Spirit of darkness. It lies beside Dalel, opposite Qaaniguaq, the realm of light. No light exists in Woncu, and darkness there is a tangible force.

Etymology

Woncu is the Bušing word for "evening".

History

Darkness has existed since the emergence of Náiluv in the Napadéh. During the Era of Isolation it fell on Dalel but had no place of its own. Woncu formed when Náiluv and Tñarilu drew darkness and light apart, ending the Era of Isolation. It lies on one side of Dalel, opposite Qaaniguaq.

Geography

Woncu is a world without light. Those who live there find their way by sound and reverberation rather than sight.

Climate

Woncu has no sun, moon, or weather in the usual sense.

Native Sophants

Woncu is home to the Nuworno, the warden race of Náiluv, and to other peoples. None of its inhabitants see as the peoples of Dalel do; they perceive through vibration, sound, movement and presence.

Native Spirits

Náiluv dwells in Woncu.

Notable settlements

Woncu has cities. Built by peoples who perceive without sight, their structures are unfamiliar to those accustomed to light.
