Introduction
The Nuworno are winged beings of darkness, the warden race of Náiluv, the Primordial Spirit of darkness. They were created at the beginning of the Dawn Wars to fight for Náiluv against Tñarilu and the Inguik, and they live in Woncu, the realm of darkness.
Etymology
Nuworno is the Bušing word for "people".
Origin and Nature
Náiluv created the Nuworno when the Dawn Wars began, with the emergence of time near the end of the Great Erosion. Like the other warden races, they were not shaped from nothing: Náiluv gathered the consciousness already present in darkness until it took form and awareness. Each Nuworno is an accumulation of darkness as much as a creation.
History
The Nuworno have fought in the Dawn Wars since they began. The war is an endless struggle between Náiluv and Tñarilu for control of space, and the struggle between the Nuworno and the Inguik is part of it. Neither side can win; the balance between them, the Great Equilibrium, tips back and forth, and its shifting produces day and night on Dalel. The Dawn Wars are not fought in Dalel.
Biology and Physical Traits
The Nuworno resemble winged human figures formed of darkness. Like the other inhabitants of Woncu, where there is no light, they perceive through vibration, sound and movement rather than sight. They are ageless.
Abilities and Osia
The Nuworno follow the Path of Náiluv. Because of their closeness to Náiluv, they hold great power over darkness, beyond that of human disciples.
Mythology and Legends
Nuworno are very rarely seen in Dalel, and accounts of them are the stuff of myth. In art they are usually shown as dark winged warriors, the mirror image of the Inguik.
Relations with Other Races
The Nuworno are the enemies of the Inguik, the wardens of Tñarilu.
