Introduction

The Ashlar Vaults are the civic archives of Lavierin, located at the center of the Iacângeni District district. These subterranean chambers preserve the legal, genealogical, and history of the Arânzeni people. Access to the innermost chambers is tightly restricted, permitted only to sanctioned Lorewardens.

History

Over centuries, the Vaults became the center Arânzeni law and lineage. Lorewardens frequently contribute new history to the vaults.

Architecture

The Vaults are composed of concentric gallery chambers descending around a central axis.

At the lowest level lies the Chamber of Study, a place for Lorewardens to write and review texts.

Function

The Ashlar Vaults function as Lavierin’s primary archive and legal repository. Their contents include law, lineage, other historical records.

Cultural Role

The Vaults embody the Arânzeni belief that law and history are inseparable and must be preserved in stone.
