Introduction
Payalwa is the realm of swamps and bogs located on the southwestern side of the continent of Elemara in Orethil. It is the realm of the spirit Moevra, the spirit of myth and folklore and Tragget the spirit of bogs and swamps.
History
Early Inhabitants
Payalwa was originally inhabited by the race of Olsendi, a small swamp adapted otter like creature who lived in small swampy villages scattered around the Payalwa lowlands. Olsendi society is denctralized and tribal in nature.
Human Migration and the Morusi
When humans migrated to the area, they eventually became known the Morusi. Over generations he Olsendi were slowly displaced as the Morusi continued to spread out across the land. As the Morusi grew in strength, oppression of the Olsendi continued resulting in the creation of a large reservation in the north-west.
Geography
Payalwa is predominantly divided into two geographic regions.
Eastern Higlands
The easter portion of the realm consists of highland hills and forests nesteled against the misty Murzhakar range. Rivers from the mountains descend towards the lowlands in the west. While in some ways more hospitable, the settlements here tend to be newer.
Western Lowlands
Where both the Olsendi and the Morusi first settled, the west is a complex network of rivers, lakes and bogs. It also the predominant center for both civilizations.
Native Spirits
Moevre is the ascendant spirit of myth and folklore. Her home is in Leban (region).
Tragget is the ascendant spirit of swamps and bogs. His home is on the Olesndi reservation in north western Payalwa.
