The Lithic Gate is the outermost fortified threshold of Kar-Thal, marking the formal boundary between the city and the mountain beyond. Built from massive interlocking stone slabs—assembled without mortar or binding agents—the gate embodies the Orasian principle of resonance-bound strength: adaptable, silent, and unyielding.

It serves as both a defensive bulwark and symbolic entry into the civic body of Kar-Thal. Only sanctioned processions, oath-bearing visitors, or resonance-aligned defenders may pass beneath its silent arch.

History

The gate was constructed during the late Era of Isolation, when expanding external pressures from seismic instability and early rogue guild incursions led to a restructuring of Kar-Thal’s outer defenses. Designed by earth-osia practitioners and stoneform architects, it remains one of the most structurally complex elements in the city.

The Lithic Gate became not only a threshold, but a ceremonial lock—bound to the city's harmonic field through embedded resonance lines in its foundation.

Architecture

The gate consists of massive geometric slabs, each cut to lock into the next with exact mineral tension. The entire structure subtly shifts with pressure and tremors, redistributing force and maintaining integrity without fracture.

Along its inner curve are engraved spiral notations and low-relief guardians, blending architectural function with ritual symbolism. The surrounding passage widens into Stone’s Hold, where defense and logistics are maintained.
