Dulayu, the Ascendant Spirit of forests

Ascendant Spirits are a class of spirits in the cosmology of Adaris. They arose after the Great Erosion, born from the interactions between the Primordial Spirits, and represent the concepts, forces and features of the land that give the world its distinct shape. Unlike the Primordial Spirits, which came into being in the Napadéh, Ascendant Spirits formed within the world.

Origin and Nature

As the Primordial Spirits shaped reality, new ideas and concepts arose from their interactions. Over time these became the Ascendant Spirits.

Some Ascendant Spirits arise from the tangible convergence of primordial elements. These include Arihis (sand and desert) and Taltāndu (volcanoes and magma), each representing physical phenomena or environments shaped by combined elemental domains.

Others emerge from the intangible. Aliyu (knowledge) and Yala (history and memory) were born from the interplay between Umalyu and Pavkanai together with the other Primordial Spirits.

Manifestation and Presence

After the Great Erosion, as the realms of Adaris stabilised, the Ascendant Spirits moved out into them and took up specific domains. Many settled the regions of Dalel, where they shaped the terrain, altered the flora and fauna, and created the non-human native peoples. Others inhabit the other realms.
