Introduction:
Heiosdyn is the language of the Heialdyn Stratocracy in southern Gosterra. It is closely related to Gostaldi, the language of the Kingdom of Bóinbile.
Etymology:
Heiosdyn is a contraction of the Heiosdyn phrase hioaldech gostaldech yyn, "southern coastal people".
History:
Heiosdyn and Gostaldi both descend from Bintzaila, the language of the settlers who landed in Gosterra in the Great Migration. After a period of shared development, the speech of southern Gosterra drew apart from that of central Gosterra, and by the 400s ME it had become a language of its own. When the Heialdyn Stratocracy arose in 645 ME, Heiosdyn became its language.
Distribution:
Heiosdyn is spoken throughout the Heialdyn Stratocracy, in provinces such as Baddaen, Enis and South Coast. Most place names in southern Gosterra are Heiosdyn, among them Heialdyn, Baddaen and Urbala.

Phonology:
In Heiosdyn, y and w can stand as vowels as well as consonants, as in Heialdyn and Senelyn. Pairs such as dd, ll, ff, th and ch each write a single sound, as in Baddaen. Where Gostaldi has sc and sp, Heiosdyn has sg and sb.
Grammar:
The first consonant of a word can soften after certain words and in certain positions, so that p, t and c become b, d and g.
