Introduction:
K'et'er is the language of the Kesomir, the warden race of Konmai, in Q'ommer, the realm of time. The spirits of time speak it alongside Tivayi. A later, worn form of the language, Kete, is spoken by the Q'omk'uq.
Etymology:
K'et'er and its worn form Kete both mean "language".
History:
K'et'er is thought to be as old as the Kesomir, who came into being with Konmai near the end of the Great Erosion. Kete developed from it in the speech of the Q'omk'uq.
Distribution:
K'et'er is spoken by the Kesomir and Kete by the Q'omk'uq, both in Q'ommer.
Dialects:
In Kete, the glottalized consonants have become plain, q and q have become k, x has become s, the glottal stop has disappeared, long vowels are short, and final consonants have dropped. Shared roots remain recognizable, as in K'et'er q'exriner beside Kete kesrine.
Phonology:
K'et'er has plain and glottalized consonants in parallel: p, t, tz, ch, k, q beside b, t, tz, ch, k, q. The apostrophe marks glottalization. Long vowels are written double. No word begins with two consonants, and no three consonants stand together.
