Introduction

The Saevien are the warden race of Pavkanai, the Primordial Spirit of imagination. They are the protectors of Homhuen, the realm of imagination and dreams, and are known only to those who reach it in dreams.

Etymology

Saevien is a shortened form of saengzvienz, the Saevien word for "dream".

Origin and Nature

Pavkanai formed the Saevien after the Great Erosion, once the Dawn Wars had begun, as a precaution; accounts do not agree on what she meant them to guard against. They were not shaped from nothing: Pavkanai gathered the consciousness already present in imagination until it took form and awareness.

Biology and Physical Traits

The Saevien are humanoid figures built of open, box-like frames, hollow throughout. They are described as empty vessels for imagination and creativity, given shape by what passes through them rather than by any substance of their own. They are ageless.

Abilities and Osia

The Saevien follow the Path of Pavkanai. Because of their closeness to Pavkanai, they hold great power over imagination and dreams, beyond that of human disciples.

Mythology and Legends

Dreamers who reach Homhuen, including disciples of the Path of Pavkanai who practice dreamwalking, report meeting the Saevien there. They are not known ever to have appeared physically in Dalel or any other realm. In art they are usually shown as figures of empty frames.

Relations with Other Races

Humans, whom Pavkanai formed in Homhuen, encounter the Saevien only in dreams.
