Flora and fauna of Terasil
The realm of Terasil, governed by Oras, the Primordial Spirit of Earth, is characterized by its rugged terrain, including towering mountains, fertile valleys, vast underground caverns, and arid plains. The flora and fauna of this ancient land have adapted to its unique geological and elemental influences, making it home to a wide variety of resilient species deeply connected to the land itself.
Flora
Karthal Fern
A hardy fern that thrives in the damp, rocky crevices of Terasil, particularly in the Terraces of Mist. Its fronds absorb minerals from the stone, giving them a subtle metallic sheen.
Dralwood Tree
A towering tree with dark, iron-like bark and deep-set roots that anchor it firmly into the mountainsides. These trees are revered for their durability and are often used in construction and craftsmanship.
Stonebind Vine
This tenacious plant is known for its incredibly strong and fibrous roots, often used by the inhabitants of Terasil for binding materials and reinforcing structures.
Ashthorn Shrub
A resilient shrub found in the more arid regions, its thorny branches exude a tough sap that solidifies upon exposure to air. Some artisans use this sap in crafting tools and binding materials.
Fauna
Graniteback Behemoth
A massive, slow-moving beast with an armored hide resembling the rocky terrain of Terasil. These creatures are peaceful but fiercely territorial when provoked.
Glowcarver Beetle
A subterranean insect that burrows through Terasil’s underground caverns. It secretes a phosphorescent residue, which some miners use to mark tunnels.
Cragstalker
A feline predator that moves silently through the rocky outcrops of Terasil. Its fur blends seamlessly with stone, making it nearly invisible to prey.
Burrowdrake
A wingless reptilian creature that tunnels through the mountains. It is respected by the Orasians as a sign of stability and strength.
Emberfang Adder
This serpentine predator inhabits the arid plains and is known for its heat-resistant scales, allowing it to survive in the most extreme conditions.
