Introduction

Himojan is the language of the Himoja, a native people of Orinilure.

Etymology

The language takes its name from the Himoja.

History

Himojan is thought to be as old as the Himoja, whom Kiyañ created in the Age of Ascendance. When the Oinien settled Orinilure in 150 ME, many places already bore Himojan names, and these remained in use.

Distribution

Himojan is spoken in the farming villages along the rivers of the Orinilure Valley and among the Himoja who live in Oinien cities. The names of the valley's rivers and of Lake Heshinum are Himojan, and are among the oldest names in Orinilure.

Phonology

Himojan is written without accented letters. The sound sh is common and often begins a word, as in Shebal. Many words have two syllables and end in a consonant, as in Tohol, Petut, Nakol and Hekut.
