Introduction

Konmai is the spirit of time within the cosmology of Adaris. As the Primordial spirit of time, Konmai controls the flow of moments, ensuring the continuity of all life.

Nature and Influence

Konmai was the last of the Primordial Spirits to emerge. He came into existence near the end of the Great Erosion, long after the other spirits had begun to shape the physical world. The cause is unclear. It is usually attributed to the consciousness of Umalyu.

Before Konmai there was no passage of time, and events had no fixed sequence or duration. His emergence gave the cosmos order and progression.

Relationship with Other Elements

As the last of the Primordial Spirits, Konmai stands between the older spirits and the Ascendant Spirits, who arose after him. His role as the keeper of time gives him a unique position among the spirits, and he is respected for his power and neutrality.

Realm

Konmai established his domain, known as Q'ommer or the Realm of Time, at the intersection of light and dark. Q'ommer is unique among the realms as it encompasses all the elemental realms within its boundaries, allowing the flow of time to touch every aspect of existence in Adaris. It serves as the space through which the elemental realms move, creating the cyclical nature of day and night and the progression of life.

Q'ommer exists as a vast, liminal space, where the boundaries between realms blur and time flows like a river. Within this realm, Konmai governs the celestial movements of the sun and moon, orchestrating the passage of hours and seasons. Q'ommer is depicted as an ever-changing landscape, filled with shifting sands, flowing rivers, and eternal twilight, representing the constant ebb and flow of time.

While Q'ommer encompasses all the elemental realms, there are certain domains that lie outside the reach of time. The realms of imagination and consciousness held by Pavkanai and Umalyu, exist beyond the influence of Konmai. These realms are timeless, not bound by the flow of moments that define Q'ommer.

Osia

The Osia associated with Konmai involves the manipulation of time. Practitioners align themselves with the flow of time tapping into the consciousness of Konmai and related nascent spirits to influence small temporal events.

While the manipulation of time is inherently limited and localized, affecting small-scale phenomena over short periods, there are legends of those who have attempted to exert greater influence over time, with varying degrees of success and danger.

Significance and Worship

As the spirit of time, Konmai holds significant influence over the lives of all beings in Adaris. He governs the natural rhythms of life, from the daily cycle of the sun and moon to the life cycles of all creatures. Many cultures in Adaris revere Konmai as a guiding force, recognizing that time is both a giver and taker, a force of creation and destruction.

Konmai's existence raises profound philosophical questions about the nature of time and its role in the cosmos. Some see Konmai as a benevolent force, guiding the flow of time to ensure balance and order in the universe.
